JAKARTA, June 8 (Xinhua) -- A strong earthquake in the Philippines has caused panic among residents in some coastal areas of northeastern Indonesia, local media reported on Monday morning.
The tremor was felt across various cities and villages, including Manado, Bitung, and Kotamobagu in North Sulawesi province on Sulawesi island, according to the report, adding that so far there have been no reports of damage caused by the powerful earthquake.
Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency issued a bulletin on Monday morning, launching an early tsunami warning for the coastal areas of northeastern Indonesia.
