Indonesia's customs, excise revenue reaches 6.85 bln USD by May

JAKARTA, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's customs and excise revenue reached 123.8 trillion rupiah (about 6.85 billion U.S. dollars) as of the end of May, equivalent to 36.8 percent of the 2026 state budget target, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said on Friday.

Purbaya said revenue collection had begun to recover, posting cumulative growth of 0.7 percent after contracting earlier this year.

Excise revenue totaled 90.4 trillion rupiah, supported by higher tobacco production in the first quarter.

Import duty revenue rose 9.7 percent year on year to 21.5 trillion rupiah, driven by increased imports of raw and auxiliary materials.

"That shows manufacturing activity is improving domestically," Purbaya told a press conference.

Meanwhile, export duty revenue fell 8.9 percent to 11.9 trillion rupiah, although the decline began to moderate amid firmer crude palm oil prices between March and May, he said. (1 rupiah equals 0.000055 U.S. dollars)
