Fire breaks out at oil refinery in Indonesia's Central Java, no casualties reported

JAKARTA, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- A fire occurred at an oil tank in the oil refinery located in Cilacap Regency, Indonesia's Central Java province, on Thursday, with no casualties reported, a senior firefighter said.

Video footage showed thick black smoke rising from an oil tank at the refinery, operated by Indonesia's state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina.

Ade Bhakti Ariawan, secretary of the provincial fire department, said the fire was not as severe as previous incidents.

"The fire has already been extinguished and is now in the cooling process, which may take several hours," he told Xinhua via phone.

"No casualties resulted from the incident," Ariawan added.
