JAKARTA, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia will stop importing diesel fuel starting July 1, the date the country launches its B50 biodiesel program, Indonesian Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman has said.
"We will no longer import diesel. On July 1, 2026, we will stop (diesel import), as B50 comes into effect," the minister said on Sunday.
B50 is an Indonesian biodiesel mandate requiring a 50 percent blend of palm oil-based biofuel with fossil diesel to reduce fuel imports and enhance energy security.
In addition, the Indonesian government is preparing cooperation with state-owned plantation firm PTPN IV to develop palm oil-based gasoline on a small scale before expanding it into a large-scale industry, local media reported.
