Macron named the soldier asFlorian Montorio, a master sergeant in the17th Parachute Engineer Regiment ofMontauban serving with Unifil, the UNpeacekeepingmission in Lebanon.
He was killed on Saturday morning in southernLebanon, the president said ina poston X. The three soldiers wounded in the same attack were evacuated, he added.
"Everything suggests thatHezbollahis responsible for this attack," Macron said. "France demands that the Lebanese authorities immediately arrest the perpetrators and assume their responsibilities alongside Unifil."

Ambush
Montorio was "ambushed by an armed group at very close range", according toDefence Minister Catherine Vautrin.
Shesaidhe had been on a mission to clear a route to a Unifil post Deir-Kifa region that had been cut off for several days by fighting. He was struck by direct fire, Vautrin said, paying tribute to his 18 years of service.
Lebanon's prime minister,Nawaf Salam, had earlier announced the attack on UN peacekeepers, which comes on the second day ofa 10-day ceasefirebetweenIsraeland Hezbollah.
Salam said he strongly condemned the incident and had ordered an "immediate investigation".
