JAKARTA, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Consumers grew more optimistic about Indonesia's economy in April as concerns over U.S. tariffs temporarily eased.

A Bank Indonesia survey, published on Friday, showed that the country's consumer confidence index rose to 121.7 in April, up from 121.1 in March.

The April data indicated that consumers remain optimistic about both current and future economic conditions in Indonesia.

Ramdan Denny Prakoso, executive director of Bank Indonesia's communications department, said that the indices for current economic conditions and consumer expectations remained in optimistic territory (above 100) in April, with readings of 113.7 and 129.8 respectively.

Consumer expectations for Indonesia's economic conditions over the next six months are projected to stay strong, supported by positive outlooks across all components, including job availability and business activity. These sub-indices reached 123.5 and 128.5 respectively in April, both well within optimistic levels.
