ABU DHABI, 13th January, 2023 (WAM) -- Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities and the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a cultural centre in Solo, Central Java Province, to enhance cultural and intellectual cooperation between the two parties.

The planned centre aims to provide educational, cultural and community services to the local population in the designated area, as well as contribute to the promotion of economic, investment and urban development opportunities in the community.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Khaled Al-Yabhouni Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities, and Prof. Dr. Phil. Kamaruddin Amin, Director-General of Islamic Community Guidance, on behalf of the Ministry.

The terms of the memorandum specified the commitment of each party to fulfill this important undertaking, which will be a beacon of intellectual and cultural renaissance in Indonesia.

Dr. Al Dhaheri stressed that the university's decision to commit to this joint project is a reflection of its mission to promote cultural and intellectual development in the humanities in Muslim societies and forms an integral part of its strategy to forge partnerships with interested and like-minded institutions, such as the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia, that contribute significantly to accomplishing this goal.

He added, "Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities strives to contribute to enhancing the cultural and intellectual capabilities of Muslim communities, fully aware that this will not only help pave the way for their future development, but also achieve greater understanding and cooperation throughout the world in light of the many transformative changes the global community is witnessing across many aspects and fields of society."

According to Dr. Al Dhaheri, the upcoming cultural centre would bring about a great cultural and intellectual renaissance in Indonesia, and further emphasised that Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities will spare no effort to achieve this goal, through the completion of this vital project according to the plan laid down in the agreement.
