JAKARTA -- Seven gold miners were killed and 5 others injured after landslides hit a gold mine in Indonesia's West Kalimantan province, rescuers said on Saturday.

Eight people remained missing in the natural disaster which occured at the Kinande village of Bengkayang district, said Thomas Katihada, senior official of the disaster management and mitigation agency in the district. (Indonesia-Mine-Landslides)

NEW DELHI -- More than 20 people died and many were injured in rain-related incidents in various parts of India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh amid heavy downpour over the past days, local media reported on Saturday.

JOHANNESBURG -- Twenty-one people, including 19 school pupils, were killed in a traffic accident in northern KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, according to the country's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) on Saturday morning.

The accident involving a truck and a bakkie occurred Friday afternoon when the truck attempted to overtake another truck and ended up colliding head on with the bakkie which was carrying the school children, younger than 12, on their way home from school. (S. Africa-Traffic Accident-Death)

ISLAMABAD -- At least 37 more people were killed and 92 others injured in heavy monsoon rain-triggered flash floods in Pakistan, the country's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said.
