JAKARTA, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Police in Indonesia's westernmost province of Aceh said on Thursday that the police's counterterrorism Densus 88 unit has arrested a suspected terrorist, who is believed to be affiliated with the outlawed Jemaah Islamiyah (JI).
The provincial police spokesperson Winardy told local media that the suspect under the initials ISA was arrested in Sidodadi village in the district of Aceh Tamiang on Wednesday. The 37-year-old man was allegedly the coordinator of JI in the province, the spokesperson said.
"The arrested suspect was allegedly the coordinator and had an important role in the JI structure," said Winardy, adding that ISA has been moved to North Sumatra Police for a further investigation.
According to him, Densus 88 had arrested a total of 15 suspected terrorists in Aceh since last month and most of them were allegedly affiliated with JI network.
