JAKARTA, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has reported 246 new COVID-19 cases during the past 24 hours, health authorities said.

The total number of COVID-19 infections in the country rose to 6.05 million, and 156,556 deaths were reported due to the viral disease. There are 3,011 active cases in the archipelagic country.

The government, which aims to fully vaccinate 208.26 million people in the country, has administered over 412 million doses.

Indonesia started mass COVID-19 vaccinations in January last year after the authorities approved the emergency use of the Chinese-made Sinovac vaccine.

More than 200.08 million people have received their first dose of vaccine, over 167.15 million have taken the second dose, and at least 44.90 million people have received the booster shots.
