KABUL -- At least two people were wounded in a bomb attack targeting a mini-bus in western part of Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, on Thursday, the third bomb explosion hitting public transport buses within the week, the capital police confirmed.

"The blast occurred in Pul-i-Sokhta locality. Two wounded were shifted to hospital, more information would be shared with media soon," Kabul police spokesman Ferdaus Faramarz told reporters via a text message. (Afghanistan-Bomb)

DHAKA -- Bangladesh on Thursday announced its biggest ever national budget as the country seeks to continue the growth momentum amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

COLOMBO -- The Sri Lankan government on Thursday said a search operation has been launched to locate the Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) from the foreign-owned X Press Pearl container ship which caught fire in the outskirts of the Colombo Port last month.

In a media briefing held in capital Colombo, officials said the VDR will be used to listen to the conversations that the ship captain had with other members before and during the eruption of the fire. (Sri Lanka-X Press Pearl)

JAKARTA -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia increased by 5,353 in the past 24 hours to 1,837,126, with the death toll adding by 187 to 51,095, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.

According to the ministry, 11,092 more recovered patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries from the coronavirus epidemic to 1,691,593. (Indonesia-COVID-19)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia reported another 103 COVID-19 deaths on Thursday, with the national total now at 3,096, the Health Ministry said.

Another 8,209 new COVID-19 infections were reported, of which 64 are imported and 8,145 more are local transmissions, bringing the national total to 595,374. (Malaysia-COVID-19)
