COLOMBO -- All state-owned schools across Sri Lanka re-opened on Monday after being shut for over a month amid the COVID-19 pandemic which has infected more than 2,800 people in the island country, the Education Ministry said.

Schools re-opened for all grades under strict health guidelines which included students wearing face masks and maintaining hand hygiene at regular intervals.(Sri Lanka-Schools)

JAKARTA -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 1,687 within one day to 127,083, with the death toll adding by 42 to 5,765, the country's health ministry said on Monday.

ISLAMABAD -- A blast triggered by an improvised explosive device hit a government vehicle in Pakistan's southwest Chaman city of Balochistan province on Monday, leaving at least five people dead and 15 others injured, police said.

CANBERRA -- Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has described the deaths of 19 Australians on the nation's deadliest day of the COVID-19 pandemic as "devastating."
